Notes

NO ordinary man – integrity, compassion, inspiration, and intelligence are the adjectives frequently used to describe Henry Searcy, Jr. An exceptional 18-year United States Department of Agriculture career, with an outstanding record of achievements in Federal programs related to community economic development and civil rights.| |As a civil rights activist within the USDA, Henry assisted in the settlement of the largest civil rights settlement in history, the Black Farmers Settlement, a 1.2 billion dollar settlement with USDA. In addition to his role in settling the Black Farmers Settlement he developed the strategic plan to promulgate the Department of Justice’s requirements that all departments establish Limited English Proficiency (LEP) policies. ||Henry’s work experiences along with his athletes management certification from Sports Management World Wide has garnered a strong knowledge of the NBA, CFL, FIBA and NFL’s: Grievance System (i.e. Injury, Injury Settlement, Non-injury Grievance, Injury Protection), Cap Rules (i.e. One Year Player Salary Benefit, 50% Down Rule, increase of salary rule, 30% Rule, Offseason bonuses-fully guaranteed, Top 51 Rule), Benefits (i.e. Severance Pay, Termination Pay, Player Annuity) and Contracts (i.e. Split, Minimum Salary, Forfeiture) as an agent of Supreme Sports. Consequently, Henry’s athletic and educational experience has garnered relationships with NFL coaches, and NFL, NBA, CFL, and FIBA general managers and executives. | |Away from USDA and Supreme Sports, Henry is still hard at work. He mentors, trains and coaches three, four, and five star high school football athletes as a part of a humanitarian effort. Life Skills is a Mentoring Program for 3, 4, and 5 star football athletes as ranked according to Rivals and 247 Sports – Henry is known throughout Maryland as Coach Searcy. Life Skills through mentoring, coaching and local outreach allow high school age youth the opportunity to make better decisions, live a more productive and fulfilling life, find ways to cope with the uncertain demands of life, and to ultimately make young men better citizens through their passion and love for the game of football. LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM, has mentored 1000s of high school student-athletes through sport resulting in over 60 Division I student-athlete scholarships since 2012 (see safesportsathletics.org). •||Lastly, as the Executive Director of 360 Community Development Corporation, Inc.(CDC) a 501c3 founded by Henry, he has drafted/proposed legislation to the Maryland State Congress to allow football practices within the state of Maryland to be cancelled when heat indexes over 100 degrees exist. ||Moreover, as a representative of 360 CDC, He proposed legislation on behalf of veterans that will allow Post 9/11 GI Bill recipients the option to choose any land-grant college or university at in-state tuition. Additionally, as a representative of 360 CDC, Henry has advocated on behalf of children with disabilities at local government levels by filing a civil rights complaint on behalf of children with disabilities on the discriminatory practices of the Prince Georges County Public Schools for their failure to provide an education for children with disabilities within the least restrictive environment. |
