To Our NBPA Grassroots Family,
We hope this note finds you and your families well. By now we’re all aware of the severity of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and probably exhausted from the anxiety of it all. While we don’t want to add to the stress, we do want to let you know how we’re dealing with it at the NBPA.
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has affected the grassroots youth sports community through postponed and canceled events. The NBPA will continue to closely monitor reports from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and local authorities regarding COVID-19. As the health and safety of our community continue to be top of mind for us, we will do our best to let you know about any schedule changes regarding the postponed NBPA x Hospital for Special Surgery clinic series as soon as the information is available.
At the moment, we’re in the planning stages to still make the 2020 NBPA Summer Basketball Camp program available, though we may offer an adjusted schedule. We want to ensure you that the NBPA will take proactive steps in order to maintain a healthy and clean environment. This summer’s camp programs will showcase increased health and safety measures by utilizing the recommendations provided by the CDC:
- We will encourage our staff and participants to protect their personal health.
Post the signs and symptoms of COVID-19: fever, cough, shortness of breath.
Encourage people to stay home when sick.
Clean surfaces that are frequently touched – things such as shared desks, countertops, electronics, and doorknobs.
Stay up to date on developments in our community.
Create an emergency plan for a possible outbreak.
Request all participants and coaches to withhold their attendance at any NBPA Summer Camp programs if they have traveled to a location designated by the CDC as a Level 2 or 3 risk for 14 days.
We as the NBPA community would like to remind you all to follow the CDC’s preventive actions to help discourage the spread of COVID-19, which include:
Staying home when feeling ill.
Covering your face when you cough and sneeze.
Frequent washing of hands.
Keeping your hands away from your face.
Refrain from high fives and shaking hands.
We understand this is a sensitive and unique situation that has presented itself. If you have any questions about the state of any upcoming NBPA Grassroots Events, please visit us at nbpa.com/grassroots, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call us at (646)-604-7652.
Thank you for your time, and be well,
National Basketball Players Association Grassroots Team
