Letter from Michele Roberts to Players - 5.29.2020

Dear Players,

I have spent my entire career defending people - fighting for their rights and freedom. It is in my DNA and it is why I love this job. When I came on as your ED six years ago, I gave you my word that I would protect you.  I have tried my best, but as I have listened to your cries of pain and grief over the last few days, it is clear that my job is not done.

I sadly admit that I don’t know how to heal the pain you are feeling or to stop another senseless murder but I commit to redoubling our efforts to support the fight for Justice and Equality. I won’t ask you to start a campaign or expose your grief if you are not ready to do that.  We all manage this differently. What I do ask is that you allow yourselves to grieve and seek healing for the pain. We have the resources available. Please use them.

I am also going to ask that you make a commitment to VOTE. This will be the most consequential election in our lifetime and we cannot afford to be silent. We need leaders who will step up to change the structures that govern us.

Stay tuned for more details on the investments we plan to make.

I hope to see you all soon.  Please stay safe.

Sincerely,

Michele
