NEW YORK, NY, February 29, 2024 – Gold Level Sports & Entertainment (GLSE) and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) are continuing their partnership to bring back the second edition of their highly successful high school basketball event, The Throne, on March 27-30 at the American Dream entertainment/retail center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This four-day single elimination bracket tournament gives the top high school teams in the country an opportunity to compete for the highest title, a national championship, with all games airing on national television. New this year, The Throne will also feature a women's tournament with eight of the country's top high school basketball teams.

In 2023, the debut of The Throne marked a first-of-its-kind high school basketball national championship at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. The Explorers (FL) and the North Carolina Vikings (NC) were the final two teams standing. The last game stayed close throughout, but the Explorers ultimately came out victorious, winning by a score of 65-57. The Explorers were led by the #1 ranked player in the class of 2025 and 2023 Gatorade Player of the Year, Cameron Boozer, alongside his twin brother, Cayden Boozer.

Created in partnership with the NBPA and with the guidance of GLSE’s player advisory board, comprised of current and former NBPA members Danny Green, Harrison Barnes, Fred VanVleet, Rudy Gay, and Dwight Howard, The Throne provides a one-of-a-kind, curated experience, developed with the expertise of current and former NBPA members, to build an event “for the players, by the players.”

In addition to the on-court competition, players from the participating teams will attend financial literacy workshops led by JPMorgan Chase and educational sessions focused on time management and the college selection process. These workshops and educational sessions have been designed to prepare high school athletes for the next stage of their careers and will be led by experts in the professional development space. Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), the Official Hospital of the NBPA, will also provide onsite health and wellness workshops focused on injury prevention. Players will also have an opportunity to be screened for their personal injury risk factors at the HSS Move Better Lab.

Throughout the tournament, players from the participating teams at The Throne will have an opportunity to relax, unwind, and play NBA 2K24 in the NBA 2K/Panini Players Lounge. Each team at The Throne will also receive customized uniforms designed and provided by Capelli Sport.
