Gold Level Sports & Entertainment and National Basketball Players Association Team Up with FOX Sports and NBA TV to Broadcast Inaugural High School National Championship Event, The Throne

Taking place from March 29-April 1, 2023, at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, The Throne is a one-of-a-kind platform that will bring a single elimination bracket-style basketball tournament to the high school ranks

NEW YORK, NY, MARCH 3, 2023 – Gold Level Sports and Entertainment and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) are proud to team up with FOX Sports and NBA TV to nationally televise The Throne, a one-of-a-kind platform bringing college basketball’s March Madness tournament style to the high school ranks.

The Throne, a four-day single-elimination bracket tournament, will bring together the top sixteen teams in the country to compete for the highest title, National Champions. By partnering with the NBPA and THINK450, the NBPA’s partnership and innovation arm, The Throne will be able to provide off court development sessions and curate an experience with the expertise of current NBA athletes, therefore creating an event “for the players, by the players”.

Starting on Wednesday, March 29, the four days of action-packed matchups will be showcased by FOX Sports across FOX, FS1, FOXSports.com and the FOX Sports App as well as NBA TV and the NBA App. FS1 will televise five games throughout the tournament, with the championship matchup on Saturday, April 1 airing on the FOX broadcast network, the first time high school basketball will air on a broadcast network in over twenty years. NBA TV will televise an additional seven games, with one of the semifinal matchups streaming on the NBA App. This will be the first time that NBA TV will be broadcasting high school basketball live.

“This partnership with NBA TV and FOX is groundbreaking for high school sports, and we’re excited to be able to reward these teams for their hard work this season. The best of the best will face-off on the court and off the court players will be able to learn from experts in financial literacy and life skill development,” said Gold Level Sports & Entertainment CEO, Darren Duncan.

“We are thrilled to have these broadcast partners on board to help us highlight the innovative experience that The Throne will provide for these elite athletes and their teams,” said Que Gaskins, President of THINK450. “We are very much looking forward to seeing our collective vision come to life this spring!”

With FOX Sports and NBA TV, the Throne will provide a stage for the next generation of athletes to showcase their talents on a national level and further develop their personal brand. Additionally, player participants will attend educational workshops on various life skills that will be curated by NBPA staff.

The Throne will be unlike any events in the past, taking place at Morehouse College in Atlanta, the only four-year liberal arts institution that is historically black and all male. Beyond being the host site for the event, The Throne aims to support the development of HBCUs by driving awareness to the college’s rich culture and history.

More announcements will come including team selections and ticket sale dates.
