Top Shot 50 will be the first Legendary Set hand-picked by the players and fans
Vancouver - October 26, 2022 - NBA Top Shot, the official home for on-court highlights of the NBA that fans can own, and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) have partnered to launch Top Shot 50, a campaign that will celebrate the 50 players who define the 2022-23 season through the plays that highlight their greatness.
The Top Shot 50 player list will be selected by dozens of players representing the NBPA, including the executive committee. Fans will have an opportunity to get in on the action by selecting the best Moments of these chosen players from the season. Following the conclusion of the regular season, these top 50 plays – one from each player in the Top Shot 50 – will be released as Top Shot’s flagship Legendary set for the 2022-23 season.
This collaboration gives the players, for the first time, a voice in determining who they believe are the most impactful players of the season.
“Top Shot 50 is changing the game again for NBA fans,” said NBPA Secretary-Treasurer Harrison Barnes. “For the first time players and fans will be able to interact and collaborate on which Moments end up in their favorite Top Shot packs. At the union, we are always looking for new opportunities to connect with our fans and Dapper Labs is providing innovative ways to do that - taking digital collectibles to the next level. Groups of ten players will be selected to the Top Shot 50 at five different times throughout the season, starting in December and concluding in April. Once selected to the growing Top Shot 50 list, a player will be accompanied by one of their top highlights, chosen in partnership with the NBA and NBPA. That play becomes the leading candidate for their best play of the season.
As the season progresses and players one-up their current top play, fans, collectors and the basketball community at large will have the opportunity to vote on which highlight they think best defines each Top 50 player’s season.
