NBPA Announces Youth Summer Basketball Camps in New York, Los Angeles & Miami

In-Person Camp Sessions to Feature Appearances by NBPA Members 

Jalen Brunson, Wendell Carter Jr., James Harden, Sabrina Ionescu, Kyle Kuzma, Damion Lee, Malik Monk, John Wall along with retired players Alonzo Mourning, Herb Williams, Ticha Penicheiro and Tim Thomas

NEW YORK, NY, June 21, 2022 – The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) is pleased to announce its youth basketball camp schedule for the summer of 2022. After two years of virtual programming due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NBPA will be hosting three in-person camp sessions for boys and girls, ages 9-17, this summer. Two of those sessions will take place in Miami, Florida and New York City respectively, in collaboration with JDS Sports and Five-Star Basketball Camps. The NBPA will also host an additional session of camp in the Los Angeles area with the Sports Academy and 3-time NBA Champion Coach Phil Handy's 94 Feet Of Game.

Each camp session will provide expert basketball instruction from top coaches in the area, focusing on skill development and building in-game fundamentals. In addition to on-court activities, all camp sessions will include an educational component that will introduce campers to the topics of financial literacy, in partnership with JP Morgan Chase, as well as other off-the-court life skills. Guest speakers and appearances by current NBPA members will be a part of each session. Players for the 2022 NBPA camp sessions will include Jalen Brunson, Wendell Carter Jr., James Harden, Kyle Kuzma, Damion Lee, Malik Monk, John Wall, and WNBPA member Sabrina Ionescu, among others to be announced.

The NBPA is honored to partner with local and national organizations including Outerstuff and the Cooper Stock Foundation to provide support and scholarships for youth to participate in their camps, as well as the Children’s Aid Society, Department of Homeless Services (NYC), Drew League Foundation, Garden of Dreams Foundation, Henry Street Settlement, National Association of Each One Teach One, Police Athletic League, and United Services Organization (USO).

The NBPA is partnering with Five-Star Basketball, Hoop Nation, Basketball City and the Sports Academy to help operate its 2022 summer camps. NBPA Camp will include expert basketball instruction and training focused on camper skill and character development, with a curriculum created by NBPA Grassroots, featuring local coaches, former players, and current NBPA members to make a difference in the lives of youth.
