ANDRE IGUODALA ELECTED NBPA FIRST VICE PRESIDENT

NASSAU, BAHAMAS, February 18, 2019 –  Andre Iguodala of the Golden State Warriors was elected First Vice President of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) at today’s annual winter meeting of the Board of NBA Player Representatives. A 15-year veteran of the NBA and the 2015 NBA Finals MVP, Iguodala has served as a Vice President on the Executive Committee since February 2013. He will replace LeBron James whose 4-year term has just expired. With this new role, Iguodala will also join the Board of the NBPA Foundation.

“I am honored to be chosen by my peers to step into this position and take on a larger responsibility within the NBPA,” said Iguodala. “I look forward to continuing my work with Michele, Chris Paul and the Executive Committee to accomplish the best possible outcomes for the union and our future members.”

In another election, Malcolm Brogdon of the Milwaukee Bucks, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics and Bismack Biyombo of the Charlotte Hornets were all elected to serve as Vice Presidents on the Executive Committee. Brogdon, Brown and Biyombo have all previously served as NBPA team representatives and will begin their 3-year terms immediately, replacing Carmelo Anthony, Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala whose 3-year terms have expired.

“Malcolm, Jaylen and Bismack have all shown a great commitment to the union since they arrived in the league,” said NBPA President Chris Paul. “I have no doubt they will bring a fresh perspective and passion to the Executive Committee and I am excited to start working with them.”

In addition to Chris Paul (President), the other members of the Executive Committee include Anthony Tolliver (Secretary-Treasurer), Pau Gasol, CJ McCollum and Garrett Temple (Vice Presidents).
