NBPA Hosts Experiential Program for Current and Former Members to Learn About the Technology Industry

As a one-day experience taking place in Los Angeles and Miami, respectively, NBPA Tech Day will give current and former NBPA members an opportunity to learn about emerging technology and connect with industry executives

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 21, 2023 – The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) announced the start of its Tech Day experience taking place today in Los Angeles, CA. Led by Noah Lichtenstein, the Founder and Managing Partner of Crossover VC, the NBPA's Tech Day experience has been curated to give current and former NBPA members an opportunity to learn about emerging technology and connect with industry executives.

As part of this year’s Tech Day experience in Los Angeles, program participants will have a unique opportunity to learn about video games and esports. Program participants will visit technology companies in the Los Angeles area to learn about the video game development process and see how games are designed and integrated into professional esports leagues. Through this program, participants will visit select technology companies, including Insomniac Games and Riot Games.

Last year, the NBPA hosted its Tech Day experience in Los Angeles, CA, and visited companies such as Whatnot, SpaceX, and Coco. The NBPA will also host an additional Tech Day experience in Miami, Florida, for current and former members in mid-July.

“Last year, our Tech Day experience was a great success, and it gave our members a unique opportunity to learn about new emerging products in tech and visit companies that are building for the future,” said Deborah Murman, the NBPA’s Director of Career Development. “These experiential technology education programs have always been an area of focus to help our members expand their platforms and build their presence in the business world. Based on our members’ interests’, we have tailored this year’s Tech Day experience to focus on video games and esports, and we are excited to get started.”

“I've been proud to lead the NBPA's technology programming since 2018, and each year the level of excitement and interest from the players continues to grow when it comes to learning about new products, investments, and business opportunities within this booming sector,” said Noah Lichtenstein, Founder and Managing Partner of early-stage venture capital firm Crossover VC. “This year, we’ve added video games and esports to the lineup, and there's no better way to learn than to meet the teams developing video games and see first-hand how games are designed, distributed, and incorporated into professional esports leagues.”
