NBPA Launches Its First International One Court Experience In The Bahamas
NEW YORK, March 4, 2019 – The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) and THINK450, the licensing and marketing arm of the NBPA, held its fourth annual One Court activation at the Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, Bahamas during the NBA All-Star break. As the players’ exclusive hub for off-court activities, One Court helps to foster engagement between players, brands and sponsors.
This marks the first year One Court was presented as a stand-alone activation separate from NBA All-Star Weekend. Throughout the weekend, players attended exclusive viewing parties, comedy shows, and pool-side events. As part of the Board of NBPA Player Representatives Meeting, players also met to discuss union matters, focusing on different issues around the NBA and participating in elections to fill positions on the NBPA Executive Committee.
One Court Bahamas was powered by the following brands and sponsors: Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Baha Mar, Budweiser, Champion, Louis XIII by Remy Martin, NetJets, PXG, Vaunt, Spiritual Gangster and Loaded Dock.
“We love partnering with brands that recognize the value of players both on and off the court. Collectively they helped create another special One Court experience,” said NBPA Executive Director Michele Roberts. “These great companies facilitated a truly relaxing weekend for our players and their guests by providing best-in-class hospitality, products and services.”
About the NBPA
The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) is the union for current professional basketball players in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Established in 1954, the NBPA’s mission is to ensure that the rights of NBA players are protected and that every conceivable measure is taken to assist players in maximizing their opportunities and achieving their goals — on and off the court.
The NBPA advocates on behalf of the best interests of all NBA players, including the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, the filing of grievances on behalf of the players, or counseling players on benefits, educational and post-NBA career opportunities.
In addition, the NBPA provides a forum for players to participate in union activities – including executive leadership roles, team representative positions, and global community outreach initiatives. The NBPA offers each NBA player the opportunity to get involved in the democratic institution that was created for, continues to exist for and is run by them.
