A unique look into the bond between the NBA players who make up the core of Australian Basketball’s Golden Generation

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, and NEW YORK, NY, July 18, 2021 - SBS announces Green for Gold – a documentary about the trials and triumphs of the core group of superstar NBA players that make up the Australian Boomers basketball team – premiering 18 July 2021 at 4.30pm AEST on SBS and SBS On Demand.

Australian basketball is a national force, but medals at the world stage have been frustratingly out of reach. Green for Gold follows players Aron Baynes, Andrew Bogut, Matthew Dellavedova, Joe Ingles and Patty Mills – members of the Australian Boomers basketball team – as they train for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China in hopes of winning the elusive gold medal.

From their early days training at the famed Australian Institute of Sport, the players have grown up together, competed alongside each other, and each found success in the NBA. While they gear up for one of the most important games of their careers, the Boomers come together again to train and reflect on their unique bond, forged by their love of country and love of basketball.

The film is narrated by Australian actor Jacob Elordi, star of the hot HBO series Euphoria and was created in partnership with the Australian Basketball Players Association.
