THE RUCKER
Basketball courts across the country are essential community gathering places, and there are few courts more well-known and rooted in the local community than Rucker Park in Harlem, NYC. The urban playground game is a rite of passage for basketball players growing up in NYC, and Rucker Park is one of the most historic and iconic playground courts where the best players from around the world come and compete to make a name for themselves.

THE REFURBISHMENT & REOPENING

Working alongside local community leaders and brand partners, NBPA and its members are undertaking the complete renovation of the court, including the repair and leveling of the court’s pavement, the replacement of the bleachers, backboards and baskets - custom made and provided by Spalding, and scoreboard, the addition of team benches to both sides of the court, and the repainting of the basketball court.
To commemorate the reopening of Rucker Park, the NBPA and its partners hosted a ribbon-cutting day of youth basketball events that celebrate the shared legacy of Rucker Park and the NBPA. The event included thoughtfully-designed activities that unite our players’ passion for the game and their commitment to support the local community.

The Legends x NBPA x Rucker Brand collection commemorates the 2021 initiative to refurbish and revitalize the iconic Rucker Park in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood. This limited-edition capsule features statement pieces from the Legends product catalog, updated with NBPA and Rucker branding to celebrate Legends of the court, past and future.
- Custom-Made Spalding Basketball Hoops uniquely styled after high-quality regulation NBA basketball goals
- Newly installed asphalt and concrete that alleviates previous cracks and defects on the court
- New gates, benches, bleachers, and a new scoreboard
- NBPA Foundation to fund a 3 year position of park manager who will be stationed at the nearby Jackie Robinson Parks & Recreation Center and oversee the care and upkeep of the park as well as programming at Rucker and the Jackie Robinson Center.

Future Legends presented by:
Future Legends chronicles the past, present, and future of the legendary NYC Parks' basketball court at Harlem's historic Holcombe Rucker Park. In this episodic series, we bridge the court's iconic past and its future by facilitating the first game to be played on the newly refurbished court. This exhibition game will feature underrated high school players, providing them with an opportunity to make their mark on the famous streetball court and leave their legacy.
